PPC Sponsorships in BattleTech: Beyond Electrodrome

PPC Sponsorships in BattleTech: Beyond Electrodrome

Thanks to Dmitry Deyatov for letting me use his piece “Particle Cannon” for the cover art for this post. Catch more of his kickass work HERE.

Join The Parti-Kill Parti-Team Today!

We know that the gods skirt past the worlds of men, as invisible as clouds on a moonless night. The machinations of mere mankind are beneath their attentions, and so we fight with weapons as mundane and unimpressive as fireflies.

No longer.

Parti-Kill’s Wonder Weapon Division has finally developed a way to give the gods pause, to break their stride and make them stop and stare in slackjawed amazement.

The Chain Lightning Hand of God is a heavily modified particle projection cannon of unparalleled destructive capability. Where traditional particle cannons fire a single lethal bolt, the H.O.G. unleashes a veritable storm of destruction, washing its target and anything nearby with torrents of deadly energy. A single pull of the trigger releases the raw energy of nearly three cannons at once with predictable results. Light mechs are devoured by the blast and cast away like insects. Armored vehicles are flattened into red-hot street art. Buildings implode. Entire platoons of infantry simply evaporate.

Other sponsors sell precision. Refinement. Efficiency. Survivability. They may tell you that their weapons will make you a better pilot. They will tell you that your bed bedchambers will forever echo with the caught breath and ecstatic moans of your personal harem of battle bunnies. They will sell you the dream of joining the ranks of the Sternenlicht in their alabaster palaces.

Parti-Kill stands aside as they peddle their pedestrian dreams.

Yes, the risks you take in deploying Parti-Kill’s Hand of God are considerable. Overcharged and undersafe has that effect. But if you want to become a god, you must cast your lot with the gods, no matter the risk. Parti-Kill’s sponsorship division offers you that risk and the chance at the reward. We offer the duality of divinity. We offer heaven and hell, glory and damnation. We offer the fruits of pure, undiluted hubris. Work for us. Bring glory to us. And in turn you will hold the very Hand of God.

And remember, when it comes to overkill, come to Parti-Kill.

A VoxCom Conversation Overheard at the Devil's Tuning Fork

"Kali-Yama, man. Yup. Hell yeah. I'll ride that shit till the wheels come off. They let me use their AP-PPC last bout and it felt like I was peeling oranges with a pressure washer. Absolutely insane, man. Yeah, they had to replace the entire right arm 'cuz the innards were cooked. No, I feel fine. What? No. Why? I mean, nothing crazy really. Just a little nausea, a little vomiting. Touch of diarrhea, sure. Well, I've been partying pretty hard to celebrate the win. Probably more caviar and oysters than I'm used to in the favelas. Fuck yeah I deserve it, I'm on top!”

Sponsorships in Beyond Electrodrome

Chaos is joy in the Electrodrome. Below is the first example of how we plan on using corporate sponsorships to add chaos and thus to add joy to your BattleTech: Destiny bouts in the BattleTech: Beyond Electrodrome (unofficial arena expansion) setting.

This is just a tiny taste of what is to come, and will stand upon the other BT:BE core rules for Spectacle and for Career Progression, which I am currently in the process of updating and refining for our move to the BattleTech: Destiny rule set. Take a look at those rule sets if you want to get a feel for how sponsorships will be implemented, bearing in mind that the end rules will be slightly different.

Yes. A SIX. INCH. MINIMUM.

So tell me what you think about the rules. How would you change them? How would you attempt to “balance” them?

Keep in mind that the idea is that sponsorships will destabilize the game in subtle and obvious ways, with the hopes that players will walk away from gaming sessions with stories to tell and scores to settle. One player spending their sponsorship points in getting a super deadly Kali-Yama AP-PPC sponsorship will be facing another player that has spent their upgrade points on motive systems, defensive systems, targeting systems, heat management or ammunition or any number of other potential counters to the AP-PPC.

There are a great many PPC manufacturers out there. What would YOU want to see these magnificent weapons do?
